SOLAR-BLIND UVC AND VUV DETECTORS
Adroit Materials has developed solar-blind vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) sensors for the detection of wavelengths below 250 nm without interference from background sunlight. Adroit Materials Inc. develops AlGaN UV sensors and power electronics through its expertise in III-nitride epitaxy and wafer processing. The VUV detector was developed for Earth and space observation in the VUV range but can also be used for missile detection through the UV signature of exhaust plumes. The device's solar blindness, large active area, high sensitivity, and low operating voltage allow seamless integration into existing defense systems. The goal is to integrate this technology into existing defense platforms as well as future municipal infrastructure applications, such as UV light monitoring in water disinfection systems and heat detection systems. Potential partners are needed to facilitate this transition into existing systems.
Adroit has developed solar-blind VUV sensors for the detection of wavelengths below 250 nm. Originally developed for Earth and space observation, the technology eliminates interference from background sunlight, enabling highly sensitive ultraviolet detection for microsatellite, scientific, and defense applications.
